Selma Schroeder Stiles of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, died January 9, 2010 at the age of 92. She was born to Herman and Emilie Meyer Schroeder in Okarche, Oklahoma. She married John Stiles on February 10, 1953 and they were blessed with one son, Robert. Selma loved her church and being a homemaker. She was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church where she worked on many committees, volunteered many hours at the church office, made many house calls to church visitors and was proud to have helped organize the Messiahs Senior Club. She attended church each Sunday until her death. Selma worked 13 years at Deaconess Hospital as a unit secretary. After her retirement in 1986, she and John traveled and then became a Deaconess volunteer and later organized the Deaconess Retirees Club. Selma was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents and her brothers Hilbert and Martin. Surviving her are her son Robert and wife Susan of Tahlequah, OK; granddaughter Natalie Stiles; great granddaughters Jenna, Makenna and Carley of OKC; her brother Alvin and wife Dorothy of Okarche; sisters Marian Themer, Forney, TX, Frances Dungan and husband Leonard of Enid, OK; sister-in-law Minnie Schroeder, Okarche; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Graveside services will be Thursday, January 14 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Johns Cemetery, Okarche, OK. Memorial services will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, Thursday, January 14 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Messiah Lutheran Church, Lutheran Hour Ministries or charity of your choice.
