Obituary

Scott Allen Shellenberger passed from this life into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 21, 2020. Scott was born in Oklahoma City on September 29, 1978, to his parents, Dr. Kent and Stephane Shellenberger. He married the love of his life, Sarah Shellenberger, on September 1, 2018. Scott graduated from Putnam City West High School and Southern Nazarene University. He furthered his education at the University of Oklahoma and was currently working on his Ed.D at Southern Nazarene University. Scott played basketball at both P.C. West and SNU. He devoted his career to teaching and shared his love for nature and the environment as a science professor at Southwestern Christian University. Scott had a passion to share the hope of Jesus with everyone, especially those in need of grace. In addition to teaching, Scott deeply loved his brothers, friends, students, OU football, church, and family. Scott and Sarah made their home in Fallis, OK, where they enjoyed life in the country, with their beloved pets. Scott leaves behind his precious wife, Sarah Shellenberger; parents, Kent and Stephane Shellenberger; grandfather, Merrill Green; brothers, Brett and Matt (Madison) Shellenberger; father and mother-in-law, Phil and Sherry Ekstrom; brother-in-law, Jon (Jen) Ekstrom; grandfather and grandmother-in-law, Earl (Fern) Leewright; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, whom he loved dearly. The funeral will be Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 3:00 PM, at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, 6789 NW 39 Expressway, Bethany, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Scott Shellenberger Memorial Scholarship at Southwestern Christian University, via the link on the SWCU homepage, www.swcu.edu.
