Obituary

Sarah Elizabeth Finley was born on December 13, 1922. She left this world on September 17, 2013. She was the youngest of three children born to Jewell and Mabel Phillips. She graduated from Olean High School and did some college work in Warrensburg, MO. Soon after, she married Donald C Finley. Together, they had two children, Ronald Wayne Finley and Linda Sue Tucker. She raised her children in Kansas City, MO. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Wheatland, MO. They had 67 years together before he passed away on February 16, 2010. When she was twelve years old she invited Jesus into her heart. She had a precious, sweet relationship with her Savior. Every morning around 5:00 a.m. you would find her reading her Bible and talking to the Lord. Not only did she serve her family in an amazing way, she served the Church of the Nazarene for a large part of her life. After her children were in school she would work at the Nazarene Publishing House and be home by the time the school bus arrived on her street. After working for the Publishing House, she finished out her working days at the Nazarene Seminary in Kansas City, MO. Many students all over the world were touched by her sweet spirit while they were in school and many called her mom. She truly had a servants heart all of her days. The most amazing thing about her was her ability to love everyone unconditionally. Her ability to mother her children and to love her husband and extended family. With each grandchild born, she would crochet a beautiful baby blanket and for every graduation a gorgeous afghan that she had made. With each wedding a handmade quilt. We have so many memories of her laughter, encouragement and her love. She was truly a selfless servant to her family and her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father and mother, Jewell and Mabel Phillips, her second granddaughter, Kirstine Finley, her brother-in-law, Royce Rebstock, sister-in-law, Doneva Phillips, and her husband, Donald C. Finley. Left behind are her children, Ron Finley and wife, Rindy, their children Gayla Miller, Craig Finley and wife, Burie, and Erin Rencher; her daughter Linda Tucker and husband Richard, their children, Kim Banz, husband Mark, Scott Tucker and wife Angie. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Maggie and Gavin Miller, Delana Finley and Rickie McGrew, Jorden and Jacob Rencher, Hailey, Maggie and Lily Banz, Kate Tucker; and great, great-granddaughter, Bella. Elizabeth also leaves her beloved sister, Byrl Rebstock and brother, Mancel Phillips, and many nephews and nieces. She will be greatly missed by us all.
