Sandra "Sandy" Gayle Wood, 67, of Oklahoma City, died Friday, May 30, 2014 in Oklahoma City. A memorial service is planned for Thursday, June 5th, at 10:00 a.m. at Mercer-Adams Chapel, 3925 N. Asbury Ave., Bethany, OK. Sandy was born in Oklahoma City, OK on September 1st, 1946 to Bill Jennings and Mary Foley Jennings. She grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Putnam City Schools. She married Dayle Fleharty and had two children from this union, Toby Felharty of Las Vegas, NV and the late Todd Fleharty of Oklahoma City. She later married Herman Wood of Oklahoma City. Sandy was a longtime owner and operator of Cassandras Hair Salon in Oklahoma City. She loved her career and had many longtime and faithful customers who became her lifelong friends. Sandy seemed to have a lucky hand at the slot machines and loved to play them. She loved spending time with her family and cooking big holiday dinners and serving her favorite chocolate pie for dessert. Sandy was also partial to her pets, always having a dog or two in the family. She was preceded in death by her son, Todd G. Fleharty; husband, Dayle Fleharty; husband, Herman E. Wood; step-sons, Mitchell Wood and Michael Wood; grandparents, Charles and Nell Foley; her mother, Mary Josephine James and step-father, John James; and brother, Charles "Sonny" Jennings. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Toby and Teresa Fleharty and grandsons, Avery and Austin; daughter-in-law, Robbi Ketch and grandchildren, Michael Fleharty and wife Kayla and great-granddaughter, Carter Anne; Tara Fleharty and Phillip Fleharty. She is also survived by her step-children, David Wood, Andy Wood, Kelly Wood and Kacky Wood, and half-sister, Lauranell Hahn. Sandy was a warm and giving mother, nana and friend, always giving of herself to others. She will be missed beyond measure.
