Obituary

Sandra Kay Sloan was born to Don and Elizabeth Cox July 30, 1948 in Norman, Oklahoma. She had two brothers, Phillip and Gary. She married David Sloan on April 14, 1978. She had one son, Richard McQuone, from a previous marriage and her other son, John, from David's previous marriage.

Sandy and David met while working in the grocery business, calling on various grocery stores throughout the state. They had competing products which caused a problem for them so David just married her to eliminate the competition. After that she stayed home to run the household, take care of the boys and try to beat them in the million games of horseshoes they played in the backyard.

Sandy was a fairly active woman who owned horses and rode often. She enjoyed playing golf and David taught her to play tennis and snow ski. She also loved to fish and taught the boys how to catch the "big one."

David started a business with his partner, Glenn George, called Unique Marketing. The main product was a lamp with live plants in its base. Touching the leaves turned the light on and off. As the primary salesperson, Sandy had many clients throughout the state of Oklahoma.

When she and David got married, Sandy joined Olivet Baptist Church where she worked with the GA's (Girls in Action) and the College and Career ministry.

Her health began to deteriorate fairly early but she pressed on through the many surgeries that were promising to heal her. She fought so hard and so long against terrible pain but continued to smile with her pretty blue eyes. All along the way Sandy continually stumped the doctors, including this latest group, the common phrase being "we've never seen this before."

Finally, Jesus said, "Come to me and I will stop your pain and put your smile back on your face forever." She passed into his arms on May 22, 2025.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Phil Cox and wife Jan Cox; and brother, Gary Cox.

She is survived by her husband, David; son, Rick and his wife Lisa of Bethany, Oklahoma; son, John and his wife Lori of Sun City, Arizona; granddaughters, Dr. Cindy Sloan and Jenny Sloan of the Phoenix, Arizona area; nephew, Bill Cox and his wife Kelly of College Station, Texas and their daughter Catelyn; niece, Natalie Cox of Nebraska; nephew, Ron Cox and his wife Karen of Plano, Texas and daughter Lindsay; and Gary's wife, Maggie Cox of Oklahoma City.
