Sandra Lee
Hensley
Apr 1, 1948 — Jun 30, 2026
Sandy Hensley, beloved mother, Amaw, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Veena and Lumin Bynum; her husband Danny Hensley, and her sister Sharon Lacquement. She leaves behind her daughter, Heather Carle; her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Ashley Hensley; and her two grandchildren, Isaac and Ella Hensley, who were the absolute light of her life.
Sandy was a woman of deep Christian faith whose life work was the most important job anyone can have: Being a homemaker and taking care of her kids and husband.
Sandy had an amazing singing voice, and she and her sisters had a long-standing, unofficial tradition of singing at funerals. Theirs was the kind of harmony that could make you cry and laugh in the same breath, usually because somebody forgot the words halfway through and just hummed with confidence. It's safe to say Sandy has already put in a request for her own service.
Like the namesake main characters from Grease, "Danny and Sandy" were an inseparable pair, and left an indelible impression on the many who loved them, with unforgettable warmth and infectious silliness that always put people at ease. A close family member occasionally recalls that during the darkest chapter of her family's life, when her husband was on death's door (he ended up surviving) and she was unsure how she would take care of her kids, it was the unseen laughter of Danny and Sandy coming down the hospital halls that brought tears of relief to her eyes.
Sandy was a voracious reader and was often the MVP of trivia contests. With a little encouragement in her youth, she could easily have become a degreed professional, with a sharp, organized mind and an amazing memory.
Danny and Sandy are affectionately remembered by lots of younger folk—many with kids of their own now—as helping form their characters and making unmistakable marks on their lives for the better.
Sandy will be deeply missed, but she will no longer have to suffer now that she is with her Lord and Savior and with "her Danny."
