Obituary

Sandra Kay Canada went to be with her Heavenly Father on May 24, 2016 surrounded by her family after a brief illness at Deaconess Hospital. Sandra was born July 2, 1948 to James and Vivian (Waldroup) Franklin in Wewoka, OK and moved to OKC in the 5th grade. She graduated from PC High School in 1966, where she made many lifelong friends and was anxiously awaiting her 50th class reunion which she was helping to plan. After high school, she received a degree in home economics from Central State. Sandra married Michael Canada June 27, 1971 and was approaching their 45th wedding anniversary. Sandra spent the majority of her working career in the mortgage business. Sandra helped many people get into the home of their dreams. There are a thousand words we could use to describe her but the most fitting would be selfless. She was always putting others first. She treasured relationships. Sandra was the person so many called in times of celebration, crisis or to chat. Our hearts are broken because our "Person" is gone from her earthly home. Sandra has been a part of God's kingdom from a young age. Sandra and Mike have been members of New Covenant Christian Church for over 30 years. The highlight of "Gran's" life was her 5 grandchildren. They brought her so much joy. The only rules she had for them was do whatever you want. She would stop anything to spend time with them. She was the best Mom to Cari and Jami and often referred to them as her miracle babies. Mom was our greatest fan. There was not a day that went by that she didn't talk to her girls and knew what was going on daily. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Wynona Canada and Roy Canada, her grandparents, and her beloved aunts and uncles. Sandra is survived by her husband, Mike; daughters, Cari and Jami (Robby); grandchildren, Lauren, Logan, Lane, Harper and Halle; brother, Stan (Judy) Franklin; sister-in-law, Cherry (David) Yount; nieces, and nephews and their families, Julie Johnson, Stephanie Franklin, Rickey Brady and Jeni Rainforth; many cousins and countless friends. Services will be Tuesday, May 31st, 1:00pm at New Covenant Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to New Covenant Christian Church general fund in memory of Sandra Canada.
