Samuel Roy McMullen was born on January 9, 1949, in Canton, Illinois and was raised on a farm in Ipava, Illinois. After earning his degree from Western Illinois University, he spent five years teaching before becoming an auditor for the State of Illinois. He later relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he worked at the Nevada State Unemployment Office.

After his retirement, Samuel pursued his love for cruising, exploring destinations like the Caribbean, the U.S. West Coast and Alaska.

He is survived by his sister, Cindy, with whom he lived in Bethany, Oklahoma; his great-niece, Ashleigh of Tulsa, OK; two aunts; and many cousins in Oklahoma and Illinois. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
