Sally Ann Kliewer, 84, passed away from this life on August 14, 2023, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born in Boone, Iowa on July 11, 1939, to Ida Speed Treanor and John Zimbeck Treanor. She and her beloved sister, Susan, moved around the country for their fathers work in the military but eventually settled in Lincoln, Nebraska after WWII where she and her sister grew up. Sally was a devoted Christian. She graduated from Northeast High School in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1957 and attended Moody College in Chicago, Illinois.
Sally married Elmer Leon Kliewer on April 16, 1960. The two of them were loving and devoted parents to their three sons, Timothy, Terry, and Tommy, enthusiastically supporting them in all their sports and endeavors in early life. This devotion to their sons led them to take on roles as active members of the PTA and booster cub presidents at Northwest Classen High School. Sally worked as a secretary for Northwest Classen and other businesses in Oklahoma City. For 20 years, Sally volunteered for the Northwest Optimist Club at Dolese Baseball Park in Oklahoma City where she had great friends and served her community.
Sally was a loving Grandma. Her family and grandchildren always knew how much she loved them and was proud of them. She would drop anything she was doing to always make herself available, whenever they needed her. She never missed an opportunity to support her grandchildren in whatever they were doing. Grandma spent a lot of time hanging out with her grandchildren. She always enjoyed visits from her family and friends, but especially her grandchildren.
Sally was a great cook and always wanted her grandchildren to assist her whether it be her family favorite apple pie or her Christmas sugar cookies and pepper nuts. This is a memory grandchildren will cherish always.
Grandma and Grandpas house was always welcoming and the place to be. They always had coffee going and invited anyone in to sit, stay a while and not to be a stranger. Well never forget them, always standing on the porch waving until we couldnt see them anymore as we drove away.
Grandma always wanted to chat and know what was going on with you. She had a lot of friends who she cared about and who she kept up with. We all can picture Grandma in the kitchen and garage on the phone chatting away.
Sally loved knowing what was going on around town, liked the news and being in the know. It was known that she had a police scanner and a CB handle "the Green Bean," a name taken after her green station wagon car from the 70s.
Her favorite saying was, "thats life in the big city" and well never forget her saying it.
Sally was an accomplished seamstress and loved to read. She loved nature and plants and was entertained by the animals in the backyard. Grandma had a green thumb and liked having plants around. She always had a dog of her own and cared for animals.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Kliewer; parents, Ida and John Treanor; and sister, Susan Stinnett.
She is survived by her sons, Timothy (Pam) Kliewer, Terry (Amy) Kliewer and Tommy (Jill) Kliewer; as well as six grandchildren, Paisley, Paxton, Ann Marie, William, Max and Alisha; great-grandsons, Rafe and Jaxon; and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be Thursday, August 17 from 9am-8pm with family present from 5-8pm. Graveside services will be Friday, August 18 at the Herold Mennonite Church Cemetery, Cordell, OK.
