Ruth Thomas, 93, went to be with the Lord, September 10, 2014. She was born December 4, 1920 in Goodlett, TX to Ross and Ruth Waldrip, the sixth of ten children. She lived on a farm 7 miles south of Hollis, OK. She graduated Valedictorian from high school in Allison, TX, and graduated from college, attending West Texas State, Walnut Ridge Jr. College, Oklahoma Baptist University and Phillips University of Enid, OK. Ruth taught school for 24 years and was Putnam City Schools Teacher of the Year, 1981-82. She was active in the Lord's work as wife of a minister for over 50 years. One of her greatest joys was being with family and friends. She enjoyed sports, reading, puzzle books and dominoes. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, 7 brothers, husband, Bill, daughter, Sally Ruth, son, Timothy Don, and granddaughter, Stephanie Thomas Peck. Survivors include her son, Mike Thomas and wife Mary Ann of Edmond; grandsons and wives, Brian and Kristi Thomas and children Cooper and Carson of Edmond, Jason Thomas and wife Angie and children Maylee and Livi of Edmond, Josh Thomas and wife Jaimee and children Reese and Finn of Edmond; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Thomas, Bethany; grandson, Dr. Tim Thomas and wife Lori and children Landon and Karli of Edmond; granddaughter, Dalania Thomas of OKC; daughter, Deborah Peck and husband Steve of Norman; granddaughter, Cristie Crisp and son Gage of Norman; brother, Doyce Waldrip and wife Patricia of Portland, OR. Services will be Tuesday, September 16, 11:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, 3800 N. May Ave, OKC, OK 73112.
