Obituary

Ruth Hardy Roberts, 89, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully at home in Wichita, Kansas, December 25, surrounded by her family. Ruth was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas and later moved to Oklahoma City. Ruth was born January 10, 1922, the daughter of Ollie W. and Carrie Schermerhorn Hardy. She graduated from Texas Christian University with a bachelors degree in education. Ruth was a member of Putnam City Christian Church where she worked in many aspects of their ministries. Her memberships also include P.E.O. chapter EW, Cowboy Hall of Fame docent for 25 years, various golf associations and Deaconess Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Roberts was a homemaker who enjoyed her family, sewing, daily walks and world travels. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Roberts, daughter, Carolyn Roberts Schallenberg and sister, Mary Elizabeth Jansen. Survivors include her son, Randy Roberts (Vickie); daughter, Nancy Kubina (Glenn); grandchildren: Carrie Lower, Jill (Jeremy) Armstrong, Charity (Chris) Tyler, Brandi (Joel) Fishman, Kristin Roberts, Jenny Roberts, Katie Roberts, Jeremy (Misty) Stiffler, Kinsey (Andrew) Peters; great-grandchildren: Carolyn Lower, Melanie Lower, Taylor Armstrong, David Armstrong, Emily Armstrong, Megan Armstrong, Callie Tyler, Emma Roberts and Aiden Karber. Following a private family burial, a Memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 27, 11:00am in the Brill Chapel at Epworth Villa, 14901 N. Pennsylvania Avenue with Dwight Magnus officiating.
