Ruth Mildred (Fry) Richards, 94, of Oklahoma City passed away on January 20, 2024.

Ruth was born on July 5, 1929 in Altus, Oklahoma to Susan and Hugh Fry. She moved to Oklahoma City in the second grade. Ruth married Joseph (Jack) Richards on September 30, 1946.

Ruth worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company while her husband was serving in Japan and continued working there until the arrival of her first child. Ruth loved being a mother to her three children and grandmother to her 2 grandsons. She stayed busy throughout her life working as a loving and incredibly organized homemaker.

Ruth loved to entertain and socialize with friends and extended family and was an excellent conversationalist. She also enjoyed meeting new people and taking them under her wing. She sewed both clothes and crafts frequently and gifted homemade Christmas ornaments every year. She took flower arranging classes for several years and was a long time member of the Garden Club where she made many great friends. Ruth was always very involved at her church, Christ the King.

Ruth is survived by her sons, David Richards and Mark Richards and his wife Melissa; and grandsons, Brian Richards and Connor Richards.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Susan and Hugh Fry; husband, Joseph (Jack) Richards; daughter, Rebecca Richards; brother, Robert Fry; and sister, Mamie Fry Kornegay.

Viewing will be Wednesday, January 24 from 9am- 8pm with family present from 5-7 pm.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am Thursday, January 25 at Mercer-Adams Chapel with reception following. The service will be live-streamed and may be viewed on this obituary page.

Ruth will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Oklahoma City following the reception.
