Ruth Marie Beverley, retired dental secretary at England Air Force Base (Alexandria, LA) died March 17, 2010 in Oklahoma City at the age of 85. The funeral will be held at Mercer-Adams Chapel on Tuesday, March 23, 10:00am with burial at 2:00 pm in Ft. Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, OK. Ruth Marie was born in Gotebo, OK to Ballard Franklin and Achsah Willie (Cummings) Hill. She graduated from Putnam City High School, OKC, in 1942. After attending business college, she was employed by IBM. She married US Army Lieutenant John Harold Beverley in 1953. They were stationed in Germany where their daughter, Willanne Yvonne was born. After several other duty assignments, the retired Major and his family moved to Gardner, LA in 1966. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970. Mrs. Beverley went back to work teaching typing to soldiers at Fort Polk, then transferred to England Air Force Base. Mrs. Beverley worked at the dental clinic until she retired in 1992. She was a member of the Officers Wives Club and a charter member of Gardner Baptist Church, where she donated much of her time helping in both communities. She was also an avid reader and fan of classic movies. Mrs. Beverley is survived by her daughter and her husband, Willanne and Robert Whetzel of Yukon, OK and her grandsons Jonathan and David Whetzel. Her third grandson, Kristopher, preceded her in death in 2005. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Morgans Wonderland, 5223 David Edwards Drive, San Antonio, TX 78233. The family will receive guests Monday, March 22, 5-7pm at Mercer-Adams.
