Rubye J. King, 96, died December 6, 2016. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Kelton on March 22, 1920. Mrs. King attended elementary school at Mineral Springs, North of Muldrow, and graduated from the Muldrow High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. Mrs. King began her teaching career in the Liberty School, near Muldrow. She also taught in the Maple, Lone Oak and Sallisaw schools and spent 28 years in the Muldrow School system. Her teaching career spanned 39 years. She was a longtime of member of First Baptist Church of Muldrow and a lifetime member of the General Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She married Elmo R. King, April 12, 1946 in Sequoyah County. They were married 41 years before his passing on November 1, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bernell Kelton, and sister, Gwen Haggard. Survivors include her daughter, Judy Parsons and husband Randy of Edmond, OK; brother, Bill Kelton of Van Buren, AR; 2 grandsons, Matt Parsons and wife Beth, Jody Parsons; and great-grandchildren, Harper, Jack and Ruby Parsons. She was also survived by a host of family and friends. Especially dear to her were the staff and residents of Golden Age Nursing Home in Guthrie, OK, whom she dearly loved.
