Obituary

Ruby tended to her family the way she nurtured her garden with an endless supply of love, warmth, and patience. To know her was to know kindness. She was everyones biggest fan. She passed away unexpectedly on July 14, 2022, at age 92, with her loving family holding her hands. Born on March 3, 1930, in Duncan, Oklahoma, Ruby was one of 12 children born to Joe and Myrtle (Mama) Shatswell. Her early life on the farm taught her the importance of family and fostered a lifelong fascination for animals. In recent years, she loved watching The Incredible Dr. Pol and reminiscing on her childhood days. In 1948, Ruby married the man of her dreams, Frank Alexander. They built a life together in Oklahoma City, where they raised two children. Although she greeted customers at Franks Automotive, Rubys true passion was being a homemaker, caring for Roney, Debbie, and eventually her grandchildren. A portrait of selflessness and unconditional love, her family was her joy. Rubys door and heart were always open to anyone in need of a loving home whether for a day or a decade. She was truly a gift to all who knew her. Ruby loved to laugh and enjoyed sharing stories over a plate of biscuits and gravy. She preferred a good meal at Cracker Barrel to fine dining any day. No holiday was complete without her homemade dumplings and famous coconut pie. Her spirit was as sweet as her sweet tooth. She was preceded in death by her son, Roney; husband, Frank; her parents; and numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. She is survived by her loving daughter, Debbie and her family Cary, Ashlee, Ben, and Emily; grandson, Adam and his family Angie, Addy, and Aiden; grandson, Kevin and his family Andrea, Kaden, Kolby, and Elliott; brother, J.T. Shatswell and his wife June; a treasured nephew, Johnnie Shatswell; and a very special sister-in-law, June Leano. A devoted wife, mom, grandma, sister, and aunt she lives on through those touched by her love.
