Obituary

Roy Leon Ford, age 73, passed away on July 9th in Oklahoma City. He was born on September 11, 1952, to Leo James Ford and Pauline L. Ford in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was married to the love of his life, Kathy Louise Ford, for over forty years, and built a beautiful life together in their hometown. Roy was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated more than forty years to the trucking industry and ultimately retired from Mercer Transportation as a Regional Logistics Manager.

A true OKC original, Roy spent his life building a lasting legacy centered around his family. He was the devoted father of Jennifer, Sean, Ryan, and Blake, and he endlessly bragged about his five cherished grandchildren: Garret, Sierra, Kaitlyn, Courtney, and Carson.

Roy was a man of simple pleasures and absolute certainty. He was best known for his unwavering love for his family, his deep faith, and his legendary stance on Charleston's carrot cake—if you know, you know. He possessed a unique ability to happily talk the leg off any fellow veteran, and he loved spending his free time with his family, attending air shows, and escaping to his cabin in Red Oak, Oklahoma.

While he masterfully portrayed the role of a tough guy, those who knew him best knew a loving, kind man with a heart of gold who would do absolutely anything for anyone. He was famously stubborn, a trait most evident in his strict refusal to ever read an instruction manual—which inevitably resulted in multiple, same-day trips to Home Depot. Armed with a total lack of filter and a healthy dose of impatience, Roy ensured that no one ever had to wonder what he was thinking. He kept his loved ones laughing to the very end, and that is exactly how he will be remembered.

Roy was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; his brothers, Dale and Don Ford; and his beloved son, Blake Ford.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy Ford; his sons, Sean and Ryan Ford; his daughter, Jennifer Ford; and his five beloved grandchildren, Garret, Sierra, Courtney, Kaitlyn, and Carson Ford.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 13th at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany Cemetery.
