Ronald Lee Beckett went to be with the Lord on September 8, 2023 in Denton, TX. He was born on February 12, 1936 in Oklahoma City, OK to G. Orville & Edith (Pace) Beckett. He graduated from Putnam City High School where he lettered in wrestling and was captain his senior year. Ron started helping at the family business, Beckett Brothers Floor Co. when he was 16 years old. Following graduation, he worked there full time. He worked for Beckett Brothers for almost 50 years before retiring. Ron married the love of his life, Janet Lee Zimmerman on January 12, 1963. Ron and Janet were married for 32 years. Following her death, he married Shirley Belanger on July 4, 1996. Ron and Shirley were married for almost 25 years until her death in 2021. Ron enjoyed telling jokes, woodworking, fishing, traveling and ballroom dancing. He also loved watching Sooner sports. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet Beckett; wife, Shirley Beckett and brother, George Beckett. He is survived by his children, Athena Onken of Lawrence, KS, Rhonda Shirley and husband Earlon of Krum, TX, Ronald Beckett of Oklahoma City, OK; his grandchildren, Zachary Shirley of Denton, TX, Tamara Rhodes of Kansas City, MO, Valerie Moreno of Tonganoxie, KS; his siblings, Betty Reed of Oklahoma City, OK, Carol Conley and husband Dave of Springfield, MO, Steve Beckett and wife Judy of Oklahoma City, OK, and Charles Beckett & wife Marye of Oklahoma City, OK; as well as 4 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Spanish Cove and Denton Rehabilitation for their great care. Visitation will be Saturday, September 16 from 9am-10am; the funeral service will follow at 10am, both at Mercer-Adams, 3925 N.
