Obituary

Romona (Adams) McKibben, 72, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on August 2nd, 2016. Romona, known as "Mike" to a lot of her family, and "Nona" to her grandkids, was born on March 15, 1944 in Great Bend, Kansas. Romona spent the first few years of her life in Macksville, Kansas, before moving to Dodge City where she would graduate from Dodge City High School in 1962. She married James Ed McKibben on September 24, 1971 and they made their home in Roswell, New Mexico. After an amicable divorce, she continued to live in Roswell, New Mexico so they could raise their only daughter, Christel, together. After living over 20 years in Roswell, Romona moved to Edmond, Oklahoma in 1994. Romona worked as a hair stylist for many years in Kansas, and spent several years as a real estate agent in New Mexico. In Oklahoma she worked for several call centers as a customer service representative before retiring to care for her elderly mother in 2008. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herschel and Marie Adams. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Christel and Ben Longoria of Edmond, Oklahoma; sister, Pat Black of Newton, Kansas; grandchildren, Josh, Megan, and Declan Longoria; niece and nephews, Jim Black, Brian Black, Tyler Black, and Christen and Nathaniel Martens; as well as numerous cousins and extended family. While Romona spent a majority of her life battling cancer, and eventually passing away because of it, she never let cancer defeat her. She always maintained her positive outlook on life, regardless of her circumstances. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 12th at St. Marks United Methodist Church in Bethany, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
