Rodger Dale
Roberts
Aug 10, 1954 — Aug 26, 2025
Rodger Dale Roberts, 71, of Bethany, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, while doing what he loved most, reading his daily devotionals and talking with God. Born in Springfield, Illinois in 1954, Rodger lived a life marked by faith, service, and joy.
Rodger proudly served his country as a United States Marine before building a career in both the grocery and insurance industries. He was admired for his strong work ethic, generosity, and the way he could bring light and laughter into any room.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Rodger is survived by his loving wife, Susan Roberts; his children, Charity (Shawn), Marsha (Armando), and DJ (Stacy); his grandchildren, Marissa, Joseph, Mauricio, Aaron, Daniel, Alyssa, Isabella, and Jaxon; his great-grandchildren, Logan, Aveeauna, Azalea, and Gabriella; as well as many extended family members and friends who cherished him deeply.
Rodger was a passionate sports fan. He cheered for the Oklahoma Sooners and the Green Bay Packers, and though originally a loyal New York Knicks supporter, he proudly embraced the Oklahoma City Thunder when the franchise moved to Oklahoma. During the Thunder's 2012 championship run, he celebrated with his trademark "fear the beard and mohawk," a look that became part of his fun-loving identity. Around the holidays, he delighted loved ones by dressing up as Santa Claus, spreading joy, laughter, and Christmas spirit. His laugh was unforgettable. When Rodger laughed too hard, his belly shook, his eyes filled with tears, and everyone around him couldn't help but laugh along.
Above all, Rodger was a man of faith. A devoted Christian, he read the Bible from cover to cover, often several times in a single year, and lived each day guided by God's word. He had an extraordinary gift for connection; strangers quickly became friends in his presence. Rodger always had a joke ready, was the life of the party, and never failed to extend grace to others, even when he struggled to offer it to himself.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Council Road Baptist Church Chapel (2900 N. Council Road, Bethany, OK 73008), where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate his remarkable life.
Rodger's legacy is one of faith, laughter, and love. He will be deeply missed, but the joy and light he gave will continue to shine through all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of love be made in the form of donations to the Council Road Baptist Church Pre-School Ministry (2900 N. Council Road, Bethany, OK 73008), where Rodger spent many years volunteering to ensure the safety of the children. Donations may be made by check (please note "Pre-School Ministry" in the memo line), by texting your amount to 405-652-0607, or online at www.councilroad.org/give, selecting "Children" from the dropdown menu.
