Obituary

Robert Bob Allen Rightmire, Jr., 82, died October 31, 2008. He was born June 11, 1926 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Robert, Sr. and Carrie (Moore) Rightmire. He enlisted in the US Navy at age 17 in 1944. A veteran of WWII, he served on New London, Albermarle, and Charles A. McCue ships. He retired from Lee Way Motor Freight in 1985 after 36 years of service. Robert pulled the first load from the new terminal at May and Reno and pulled the last load when Lee Way closed. He was named the Oklahoma Professional Driver of the Year in 1991. He drove for Yellow Freight System from 1985-1993. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, and an active member of several antique tractor clubs across the state. His hobbies included restoring antique tractors, cars, motors and wood working. Preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Marie, he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Margie; son Terry Rightmire; stepson Dennis Eastep and wife Pattie; stepdaughter Lorenda Raines and husband Todd; grandsons Justin and Andrew Eastep; granddaughter Kate Raines; and great-grandson Mathew Eastep. Services will be Monday, November 3, 2008, 2:00pm at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
