Obituary

Robert McKeown, 71, of Oklahoma City, passed away Wednesday morning, September 15th. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, and his two sons, Steve and his wife Teena, and Kelly and his wife Christie. He had three grandchildren, Mandy and husband Jeff, Robby and Kate along with two dogs, Duffy and Maggie. He was born in 1944 in Melrose, MA to Robert and Violet McKeown. After falling for Peggy in a random act of circumstances in Southern California in 1964, the two moved to Framingham to pursue their careers and life together. He spent over 40 years in various capacities at General Motors in Framingham, MA; Kansas City, KS; and Oklahoma City, OK including opening the plant in OKC in 1978. At GM, he was known as many things during his 26 years but most recognized as Boston Bob, a loyal and tireless worker who was generous to many. When Bob wasn't working or spending time with Peggy, he was busy chasing his next pursuit. Whether it was trying his hand at sailing on Lake Hefner after falling in love with the America's Cup, dabbling in hunting or fishing which he never really liked, restoring a '57 Chevy or refining his culinary skills over the smoker, Bob led life to the fullest. Perhaps his deepest passion, however, could be found in his friendships on the golf course and overall love for the game. He and Peggy's fondest memories include time spent exploring the countryside of Scotland, the cliffs of Hawaii or the mountains of Colorado with a golf club in both hands and his wife by his side. Peggy was usually without a golf club, serving as a navigator for their adventures and, of course, all of his lost golf balls. There will be a service at Resurrection Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, September 22, 10:00am.
