Obituary

Robert Graves of Yukon, Oklahoma, died October 1, 2023. He was born in Concordia, Kansas on October 24, 1932 to Bernice and Glen Graves. Robert served in the US Army and US Air Force, including Active Duty in the Korean War. Afterwards, he served as a US Postal Carrier for more than 30 years. Roberts favorite past times were fishing, camping, woodworking, bowling, and being with family. He took them on many trips in an old school bus that he converted into an RV. Robert was a member of the Church of the Nazarene for more than 52 years, serving as a board member, Sunday School Superintendent, church treasurer, and also head usher at several churches in Arkansas and Oklahoma. He also helped plant the Morning Star Church of the Nazarene in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was a member of Metroplex Church of the Nazarene. In retirement, he was honored by Yukon as the Veteran of the Year in 2019, and was also presented a Quilt of Valor by the Daughters of the American Revolution. He participated in an Honor Flight to Washington DC, to visit the Korean War Memorial. Robert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janice Graves; son, Rob, Jr. of Bella Vista, Arkansas, daughter, Teresa Murrow and husband Randy of Oklahoma City, David Graves and wife Jacqueline of Cumming, Georgia, and Daniel Graves and wife Courtney of Yukon. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and spouses, and 8 great-grandchildren that he adored. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7 at Metroplex Church of the Nazarene.
