Robert "Bob" Edward
Nelson Iii
Sep 21, 1941 — Dec 23, 2024
Robert Nelson (Bob) passed away on December 23, 2024 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born September 21, 1941 to Bob and Geraldine Nelson in Clinton, OK.
He married his college sweetheart, Judy Creech, on July 12, 1963. They were married for 61 wonderful years. Bob entered the military right out of high school, and later was a self-employed entrepreneur (Nelson Properties). Upon his semi-retirement, he enjoyed driving a bus for the Deer Creek school district.
Bob and Judy both fully retired in 2016 and enjoyed their time together cruising, visiting grandchildren, going to dinner with friends, gardening, hunting, fishing, boating and sitting on their back patio watching the birds while drinking their morning coffee. He was a devoted husband, father and papa who enjoyed spending time with his family at any given time, but especially during the holidays.
Bob loved Jesus, his church and church family. In his earlier years, he served his church in many ways which included Elder, cleaning the church, helping to maintain the church yard, Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, chairman of the pastor parish committee, and most of all, he loved being an usher/greeter on Sunday mornings. Simply put, he enjoyed serving the Lord! He was a member of the Lion's Club and NRA. Bob had a gift for giving and was very generous to anyone in need. He enjoyed life, enjoyed being with other people and was a good role model even though he was quite ornery at times.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; his daughters, Karen and her husband J. Lackey, and Lisa and her husband Brett Addison; grandsons, Tanner (Katie) Lackey, Jake (Madison) Lackey, Grant (Makalie) Lackey, and Blake Addison; 3 great-grandchildren, Annie, Thomas and Lainey Lackey; brother, John (Connie) Nelson; brother-in-law, Richard (Sheryl) Creech; and nephew, Danial Creech.
Even though Bob has been received into Heaven, his family and friends will be celebrating his life on January 11, 2025 at 11:00am at North Pointe Baptist Church (5300 NW 220th Street Edmond, OK 73025).
