Rita Marie (Schmidt) Kennedy June 9, 1931 - June 21, 2022 Born at home to Leo Frances Schmidt and Anna Victoria (Klineiger) Schmidt on June 9, 1931. Rita had two siblings, Henry Schmidt and a sister, Marcella Schmidt. She met the love of her life, ROBERT W. KENNEDY, on a blind date and they were married on September 12, 1953 in Wellington, KS; and they renewed their marriage vows in 2003. Rita and Bob had three children, Paul Kennedy of Whitmore Lake, MI, Teresa Kennedy of Oklahoma City, OK, and Timothy Kennedy. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, brother, and son, Tim. Rita began playing the piano at age three and continued to play throughout her entire life, bringing joy to many. She also attended Kansas State University where she obtained her RN degree. Rita and Bob raised their family in Wichita, KS, and then moved to Oklahoma City, OK where Rita worked at Deaconess Hospital. Rita was an overnight nursery nurse, where she took care of newborn babies and their mothers. Later in life, Rita also attended and graduated from Rhema Bible College, Broken Arrow, OK. In her last years, Rita and Bob lived at Concordia Life Care Community in Oklahoma City, where they made many friends. Ritas sweet smile and caring heart touched everyone she met. Jesus and family were everything to Rita. She was also an avid gardener, bridge player and was always up for day trips and Concordia puzzle tables. Rita will be missed by many, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. .
