Richard Lee Womack, 85, died October 28, 2018 in Oklahoma City. He was born April 22, 1933 in Mount Carmel, Illinois. He was a retired Minister and Chaplain. He married Naomi Ruth Brown on February 5, 1955 in St. Louis, MO. She died August 23, 2009. He then married Patricia May (Bryant) Wellman on June 8, 2010 in Bethany, OK.
Richard had a long, prestigious career in pastoral ministry. He faithfully served the Church of God (Independent Holiness People) in the following churches:
1955-1958 Redondo Beach, California
1958-1960 Ft. Scott, Kansas
1961-1963 Quincy, Illinois
1964-1969 Meridian and Hattiesburg, Mississippi
He also served the Church of the Nazarene at Portland Avenue and Village Avenue churches. In 1978, he was recognized as bi-vocational pastor of the year by Northwest District. During the 1980s, he was a member of the Edmond Lions Club. In the 2000s, he served as chaplain for Bethany First Church of the Nazarene and was a member of ARMS. During his years of ministry, he often had secular jobs which included the City of Manhattan Beach, California (Street Dept) and insurance sales in Mississippi and Oklahoma. In September of 2007, Dick and Naomi were recipients of the Distinguished Service Award from Edmond First Church of the Nazarene for over 31 years of dedicated service as Pastor, Evangelist, Sunday School Superintendent, Outreach Director, church planting, bus ministry, Sunday School teachers, usher/greeter, Bible study leaders, choir member and Mission Council.
Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Naomi; son, Bradley Womack; and siblings, Robert, Ruth, Dean, James, and Mary. Survivors include his wife, Patricia; sons, Stephen Womack and wife Sandra of Yukon, OK, Richard L. Womack, Jr. and wife Julie of San Francisco, CA; daughter, Karen Womack of Edmond, OK; 8 granddaughters, Amanda Miranda and husband Derrick, Jessica OKeefe and husband Steve, Elizabeth, Emily Petty and husband Tim, Ashley, Brittany, Melanie, and Eileen; great-grandsons, Logan, Jackson, and Colton Miranda; and brothers, Wayne, David, John and Paul.
