Richard Steven Neal died on January 17, 2024 in Oklahoma City at the age of 74. Born in Sand Springs, OK, the son of John and Frances Neal, he is survived by his caring and devoted wife, Araceli; brother, John Neal in Austin, TX; and sister, Anita Fielden in Norman, OK.

Rick was a gifted athlete in his youth and a physical fitness buff all his life. A multi-faceted musician, he also became a serious student, holding multiple advanced university degrees which earned him the nickname "Doc" later in life. Richard taught mathematics at OU and was founder of the American Society for Mathematics offering annual math competitions to students. He gave zealous effort to all he pursued. His last great adventure was owning and operating Doc's Boots in OKC's Stockyards City. The business did not bring him wealth but brought him friendships, which he had in abundance.

Services will be held at 10:00am, Friday, January 26 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. His remains will be interred in Araceli's family plot in the Philippines.
