Richard Floyd Maxey, loving brother, father, grandfather and husband, walked into Jesus' arms June 13, 2015. He was born in Walters, OK. He started school in Wichita Falls, TX then attended Walters Elementary. He moved to Midland, TX and then attended several other schools before graduating from Denver City, TX in 1959. He loved to sing in the choir and quartets in school and church. He was saved as a teenager and followed Christ's leading. He started at Bethany Nazarene College in the fall of 1959 and graduated in 1971 with his bachelor's degree. He worked at Aero Commander for 5 years while attending school and then worked from 1968-2002 at Western Electric, AT&T and Lucent before retiring. He loved camping, traveling, woodworking, gardening and attending softball games. His greatest love was his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.H. and Velma (Burchel) Maxey; son, Victor; aunt, Edna; and uncle, Floyd Clingman. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Kathy) Maxey; son, Charles Maxey and wife Sonny; daughter, Sharon Thompson and husband Troy; grandchildren, Meagan and Bailey Thompson; brother, Larry Maxey and wife Phyllis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be missed by all who knew him for his willingness to help others. Viewing will be Wednesday, 9am-9pm, with family present from 6:00-8:00pm at Mercer-Adams, Bethany. Services will be held at Mercer-Adams Chapel, Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 2:00pm with burial in Bethany cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany First Church of the Nazarene's Restoration project.
