Obituary

Richard Lee Jones, 80, died at home October 19, 2009. He was born in Erick, Oklahoma on October 4, 1929 to parents Margaret Marie (Winget) Jones and Clarence Alvin (Chick) Jones. Richard is survived by his wife Ruby Jean, who was his high school sweetheart in Kiefer, OK. He was preceded in death by Clara Annie (Ann Hart) Jones, wife of 53 years, and daughter, Kaye Margaret. Richard will be remembered by his children, Lynn Carolyn Kinsman, Clay Garlen Jones and Ronald Hart Jones. A special loss shall be felt by Richards grandchildren who will miss time with their grandfather. They are: Matthew James Kinsman and Robert Louis Kinsman, children of Lynn; Erika Lyn Jones and Kylor Wade Jones, children of Clay; Brandon Lee Jones, Eric Scott Jones, Glenn Hart Jones, and Kyli Hart Jones, children of Ron. People referred to him by different names during his life. His children knew who was calling on the phone by how they asked for him. His work associates almost always asked for Dick. If they asked for Richard it was family or close friend. Spike indicated to his kids that they were old high school pals. He was a proud University of Oklahoma graduate with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. Dick truly enjoyed his work, which took him from Texas, Venezuela, Kansas, and finally to Colorado. He was employed by Gulf Oil, Atlantic, Anadarko, and Panhandle Eastern Pipeline companies. His ability to work with people in the field allowed him to be successful in his career. He was awarded the Legion of Honor as a 50 year member of the Society of Petroleum Engineering. Dick retired from Anadarko while in Colorado. He loved skiing, hunting, fishing, laughing, goofy poems and country western music. Richard was delighted when he turned 70 because he could obtain FREE ski lift tickets. He enjoyed coaching Little League football and soccer for many years. This good man will be so missed by his breakfast buddies in Colorado, his Sunday School class members, neighbors, family and friends. We will remember him with love and affection.
