Richard Milton "Dick" Baker, 76, died May 3, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 18, 1939, in Sikeston, MO to Marion and Martha (Weekley) Baker. Dick grew up in Rossville, TN, graduated from Collierville High School (TN) in 1956 and attended Memphis State University. In 1960, Dick met the love of his life, Frances Dyer, on a blind date and they were married in August, 1961. Dick served in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic. In 1969, he moved his family from Memphis, TN to Oklahoma City. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, reading, playing with his grandkids and doing handyman projects for friends and family. He retired after almost 25 years in the printing business. For the last 4 years, Dick worked in a "second career" as the beloved driver for the Lionwood (Wellington) Independent Living Center, where he felt his life was enriched by the relationships he established with residents and staff. Dick was an active member and Deacon at Putnam City Baptist Church (PCBC). He had a servant's heart and was always the perfect gentleman. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and son, Richard Milton Baker, Jr. Survivors include his lovely wife of 53 years, Frances, 3 children: son David and wife Penni, of Kennesaw, GA and their children, Matt and Rachel; son Todd and wife Katy of Colorado Springs, CO and their daughters, Jessica and Raeghan; daughter Susan and husband Scott Davenport of Edmond, OK and their children Carley and Cole; sister Loretta and husband James Clay Gaither; nephew Jim Gaither and wife Pam (deceased) and nieces Debbie and husband Albert Moore, and Janice and husband Jimmy Reed. Viewing will be Wednesday, May 6, noon-9pm, with family present to welcome visitors from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Thursday, May 7, at 10am at Putnam City Baptist Church, 11401 N. Rockwell Ave, OKC, OK 73162. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the PCBC Building Debt Retirement Fund or to the Salvation Army.
