Obituary

After a lifetime of faithful service, Rev. Loyd Wilson, 76, entered his heavenly home on March 17, 2018. Following his birth on August 20, 1941 in Turpin Oklahoma to Charles Delbert and Irene Wilson, Loyd spent most of his childhood in Southeastern Colorado before moving to Central Oklahoma. Called to the ministry at a young age, Loyd graduated from high school (59) and college (63) from Southwestern Bible College and was ordained as a Pentecostal Holiness minister in 1963. During his senior year, he met Leta Bartlow from Carmen, Oklahoma, falling in love at first sight. They were married on March 24, 1963 and had two children, JoLeta, and Del (wife Cathy); and five grandchildren, Natalie (husband Zach), Timothy, Emily, Grant and Olivia. Following his first pastoral assignment in Arkansas, Loyd continued over the next 46 years to minister to numerous congregations and communities throughout Oklahoma, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas and Texas, retiring in 2009 after serving the Calvary Holiness Church in Purcell. He enjoyed spending time and playing games with family and friends, and traveling, being proud of having visited almost all 50 states. Following Letas death in 2010 after 47 years of marriage, Loyd then married Martha Jean (Cooper), deceased 2013, and was married to Frances (Owens) at the time of his death. In addition to Leta and Jean, he was preceded in death by his parents, sisters (Dortha, Gladys and Gloria) and son-in-law, Robert Nash. He is survived by his wife; his children and grandchildren; brother, Eldean (wife Emma); Frances son, Brent and family; Jeans children, Deb, Lynn and their families; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends too numerous to count.
