Obituary

Raymund William Seebeck June 27, 1932 ~ May 11, 2021 Raymund was born on the Seebeck farm, Lincoln County, southwest of Wellston, Oklahoma. His parents were Fritz and Marie Stein Seebeck. He had one brother, Rinehart E. Seebeck, deceased. He was baptized at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Wellston, OK. At the age of ten, the family moved to Oklahoma City. The Seebeck family attended Zion Lutheran Church, Oklahoma City, where he was confirmed. Raymund attended Putnam City School until the age of fourteen and attended Britton High School (now called John Marshall High School). After graduation, he attended Sheet Metal School; after four years, he qualified as a Sheet Metal Mechanic. He went to work for Swanda Brothers Sheet Metal Company, OKC. Raymund was drafted to serve in the U.S. Army in 1952. He served in the Korean Conflict, and was stationed near Seoul, Korea. He served sixteen months as Operations Sergeant at the construction group headquarters responsible for road and bridge maintenance. They built the Prisoner of War Exchange Facility in the Demilitarization Zone near Panmunjom as well as the longest concrete bridge overseas, across the Imjin River with enemy fire within close range during construction. He received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Commendation Ribbon with Metal Pendant and Good Conduct Medal. After two years of service, he returned home and went back to work for Swanda Brothers. At his friends wedding, Raymund met Rosalie Schroder. They dated and were married on April 12, 1958 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Okarche, OK. Their marriage was blessed by three children, Deborah Watson (husband Cary), Carolyn Milburn (husband John) and David Seebeck (wife Jana); six wonderful grandchildren, Rachel Marie Watson, Sarah Ann Milburn, Matthew John Milburn (fianc Charli Kroeker), Heather Melinda Watson, Zachary William Seebeck (wife Shea) and Emily Lorraine Seebeck (fianc Brian Bratvold); and one great-grandchild, Jaxston Cody Peck. During his work career, Ray was lead foreman in many of the commercial structures in Oklahoma City and in the state of Oklahoma. He worked at Swanda Brothers and Meridian Sheet Metal Company where he retired in 1996 after 46 years in the industry. First Presbyterian Church, Gold Dome Bank, First Presbyterian Hospital, Xerox, Western Electric, Childrens Hospital / OU Medical Center, Leadership Square, buildings at Oklahoma State University and University of Oklahoma- North Campus in Alva, OK. He took great pride in his work and always looked up when he went into any of the structures he worked on. Ray and Rosalie were charter members of Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Bethany, OK. He served in many offices including President of the congregation, Chairman of the Property Board, Stewardship Board, Chairman of the Elders, usher team and member of the choir. He attended Tuesday with Friends Bible Class and Sunday morning Bible Class. In the community, Ray served as Councilman for Woodlawn Park for twenty years, 1966-1986. Ray and Rosalie both loved to garden, and Ray decided to really get serious about gardening and became a Master Gardener. He had a life-long interest in raising plants, bee keeping and organic gardening. He was very concerned about the care of our soil, use of chemicals, and tried to conserve whenever possible. His honey was the best! Ray also enjoyed woodworking, playing Pitch (card game), sausage making in Okarche, fishing and bird hunting and attending cooking competitions with Rosalie. In Raymunds memory, the family would like for donations to be made to Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Bethany, OK. Viewing will be Friday, 9am - 8pm with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Saturday, May 15, 2pm at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Oklahoma City, OK. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery. .
