Raymond Willard Martindale passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on March 1, 2012. He was at home with his eldest daughter, Linda Joshua, who had cared for him the last several years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lucille, in 2002, his parents, and brothers, Weldon and Chester. He is survived by his 3 daughters, Linda Joshua, Jill Galford and Brenda Martindale; 2 grandchildren, Michael Joshua and Samantha Weaver; and great-grandson, Destn Joshua. He will be missed by many more family members and friends. Ray was born on February 7, 1919, to Lee and Lorraine Martindale in Bethany, Oklahoma. He served honorably in the Army Air Corp during WWII, being stationed in the Philippines, Australia and New Guinea. After returning to the states, he began his lifelong career in photography, working for Myers Studio as a photographer, WKY-TV as a film editor and retired from the FAA after 25 years as a photolithographer. During his retirement he kept busy by working for Southern Nazarene University in the maintenance department as an electrician helper until full retirement at age 70. Ray and Lucille were active in their church and avid gardeners. He enjoyed working in their vegetable garden and riding his 3-wheel bicycle around the neighborhood in Yukon where they lived for 22 years. Photography was his greatest love and you could always see him with a camera at just about any event he attended. A memorial service will be held at Mercer-Adams Chapel on Monday, March 12, 11:00am.
