Raymond Paul Manning
12/1/1931 1/7/2021
Oklahoma City, OK
Raymond Paul Manning went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2021, after a long and rich life spent pouring into his family and so many others who were blessed to know him. Raymonds commitment to his faith and family was the driving force of a life well lived and will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
Raymond was born on December 1, 1931 in Des Moines, IA, to LC and Robbie Manning. He has one sister, Sandra, whose children Ron and Robbie, he loved like his own. Raymond graduated in 1949 from Central High School, in Oklahoma City, where the star quarterback met a cheerleader named Barbara Moore. The pair married in March 1951 and cherished 63 years of marriage before Barbara passed away in 2014. The couple built a wonderful life together they had the epitome of a supportive, Christ-centered marriage.
After high school, Raymond joined the Air Force, serving his country in the Korean War. Upon leaving the service, Raymond graduated from Oklahoma City University, earning a Bachelor of Industrial Arts degree. He and Barbara had three sons: Mike, Steve and Jerry. For Raymond, family was everything. He loved spending time with his wife, boys and extended family, and eventually his grandchildren and the great grandchildren who lit up his life. Regular trips to the lake, Silver Dollar City, and Galveston are among the many special memories that his family will always hold dear.
Raymond owned the business Manning Plumbing and was a deacon at the Baptist Temple church for decades. He was known for acts of kindness; Raymond was always the first to visit an ailing friend or neighbor in the hospital, gave fellow parishioners many a ride to church, and was famous for his delicious peanut brittle, which brightened up the day of so many people over the years.
Raymond will be missed by his family, including his three sons and his daughters-in-law (Rhonda and Pam), four grandchildren (Laura and husband Brian, Kevin and wife Ashley, Kimberly and husband Trevor, and Brian and wife Katie) and 10 great grandchildren (Addie, Liam, Miles, Quinn, Caleb, Michael, Katelyn, Brayden, Michael, and Ryan).
Raymonds life one full of joy, service, selflessness and love for God, family and friends will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at 10:00 am, at Mercer Adams Chapel, in Bethany. It will be livestreamed at www.mercer-adams.com.
