He was united in marriage to Conti Lipps in 1971, and to this union two daughters, Charity Dawn and Brandi were born. They later parted ways, and in 1981, Randy married Vickie Wojtek. From this union came three daughters: Kristin, Kathryn, and Jennifer. Randy was a proud veteran of the US Coast Guard and was deployed on the flagship of the first Coast Guard Fleet to serve in Vietnam. He returned to Oklahoma and graduated in 1973 with a degree in Journalism from Phillips University in Enid. Randy was a man who loved to be outdoors. Throughout the years, one might have found him hunting, fishing, on the golf course or tennis courts, or of course riding a motorcycle. He was a loving father and grandfather, always proud to share a story with anyone who would listen. Randy loved fast cars and riding across the state with the Harley Owners Group. He also loved spicy Hooters wings and Mexican food. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an older sister, Carolyn Schallenberg.
