Obituary

Ramona Anne (Campbell) Manwarren, 86, passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022. She was born Dec. 8, 1935, in Wheeler, Texas. Ramona spent most of her childhood traveling the southern United States while her parents worked as Nazarene ministers. After graduating from high school, Ramona attended Bethany Nazarene College, now known as Southern Nazarene University. There, she met the love of her life, Howard A. Manwarren. After a short courtship, they married on May 25, 1956. Ramona and Howard spent the next almost 59 years building a beautiful life together, supporting each other, loving each other, and facing the world together. While Howard was supporting his family, Ramona was an active member of her community. For more than 30 years, she served as city clerk for the Township of Woodlawn Park. She participated in the PTA from 1966 to 1981 while her children went to schools in the Putnam City school district and served as a president of the PTA Council. In 1984, she was awarded the Putnam City Golden Apple. In the same year, she was first elected to the Putnam City school board and later became the boards president until 1991. Ramona also served as president of the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association (COHBA) Auxiliary in 1983 and 1984. In 1987, she was named Woman of the Year by the Oklahoma State Home Builders Association. She was a lifetime member of COHBAs Spikettes. The Parade of Homes recognized Ramona numerous times for her support throughout the years. Ramona adored her family and loved to throw get-togethers. The key to her heart was her family. She doted on her grandchildren who affectionately called her Grammers and Gussie. Ramona was one of a kind, and her family will miss her dearly. Ramona is survived by her daughter, Candi and husband Dennis Smith; son, Howard Lee and wife Kyong Hwa; her grandchildren, Leigh Anne and Michelle Manwarren, and Hayden and Kamee Smith; her great-nephew, Mark and wife Jill Worden; and sister-in-law, Liz Meairs. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard; parents, Ira Lee and Myrtle (Lyde) Campbell; siblings, Laverne Mitchell, William Lee Campbell, Aline Bright, and Edna Stansel; and niece, Cheryl Anne Coe.
