Obituary

R.A. Caldwell, 86, of Bethany, OK (formerly of Tyler, TX) went to be with the Lord on Sept. 7, 2015 in Oklahoma City, OK. R.A. was born on March 9, 1929 to Homer and Ruby Anis (Riley) Caldwell. R.A. graduated from Lindale High School and then spent 20 years as a firefighter and communications technician for the US Air Force. After retirement he became a TV technician with both RCA Factory Service in Dallas, TX and later at Curtis Mathis in Athens, TX. Following a number of years of service to the Lakeview Church of the Nazarene in Tyler, TX, most recently R.A. has been a member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene in Bethany, OK. Throughout his life, R.A. loved fishing, camping, gardening, fast-pitch softball, and spending time with his family. He wed Mary Alice Bullock on Aug. 19, 1951 and they recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. R.A. is survived by his wife, Mary, of Bethany, OK; brother & wife, Elton and Wanda Caldwell of Brownsboro, TX; daughter & husband, Rebecca and Eddie Moore of Oklahoma City; daughter-in-law, Debbie Caldwell of Largo, FL; grandson, Andrew Moore of Oklahoma City; granddaughter & husband, Valerie and Chris Morgan of Bethany, OK; great-grandkids, Layla Boucher, Penny and Robert Morgan, Hudson and Elsie Moore; sister-in-law & husband, Bocca and Thurman Cagle of Gilmer, TX; and several nieces and nephews. R.A. was preceded in death by his son, Robert Caldwell, his parents, one brother, and one sister. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, 2015 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Chapel in Bethany, OK. Interment and graveside services will be at Hopewell Cemetery in Gilmer, TX at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, 2015. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, any donations be forwarded to the "Restoration Project" at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, Bethany, OK or to the Parkinson Foundation of Oklahoma.
