Phyllis Swenson was born July 26, 1934, in Champaign, Illinois, the daughter of Oran Wilbur and Esther Hildegard Swaback. She went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2017, at 8:49 PM. On August 14, 1954, she was married to Carroll Martin Swenson at the First Evangelical Free Church in Austin, Texas. Her father, the late Pastor Oran Swaback officiated at their wedding. God blessed this union with three children, David Carroll born in Chicago, Illinois, Monica Dawn born in Princeton, Minnesota, and Beth Deanne born in Central City, Nebraska. Preceding her in death were her father, Oran Swaback, her brother, Dale Erling Swaback, her mother, Esther Swaback Keating, and her granddaughter, Nancy Marie Wallen. Those who will miss her love and prayers are her beloved son, David Carroll & his wife Suzanne of Edmond, Oklahoma, her beloved daughter, Monica Dawn Wallen & husband Dennis, of Columbus, Nebraska, and Beth Deanne Nelson & husband Roger, of Euless, Texas; brothers, Dwight Swaback of Sacramento, California, and Calvin Swaback of Seattle, Washington, and her sister, Joy Light also of Sacramento, California; grandchildren Stephanie Johnson & her husband Eric & five children of North Bend, Nebraska, Anthony Nelson of Euless, Texas, Daniel Wallen of Wahoo, Nebraska, Nicholas Nelson & his wife Tracey and two sons of Bedford, Texas, Robert Wallen & his wife Tiffany of San Angelo, Texas, and Natalie Nelson of Euless, Texas; also grandsons J.T. Cochran & 3 children of Yukon, Oklahoma, and David Paul Cochran of Edmond, Oklahoma. At the age of five years Phyllis received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She grew up in a godly home with a mother and father who loved the Lord and the Lords work. She loved going to church and it was a priority all her life. Her life verse was 1 Corinthians 4:2, "Moreover, it is required in stewards, that a man (woman) be found faithful." At the age of thirteen she committed her life to the Lord to be either a pastors wife or a missionary overseas. As a pastors daughter, she lived in many places and attended public school in those years finishing out her education experience in Trinity College in Chicago, Illinois. As a pastors wife these are the places she called home: Chicago, Illinois, Elk River, Minnesota, Marquette, Nebraska, Lyons, Illinois, Britt, Iowa, Gothenburg, Nebraska, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Lanse, Pennsylvania, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She assisted in a variety of positions in Sunday School, evangelism training, worship service, and providing hospitality. Through her adult life, she was employed outside the home in a variety of positions, but what she loved most were her roles as wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and musician. Her goals in life were to have a meek and quiet spirit as described in 1 Peter 3:4 and "that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty." - 1 Timothy 2:2.
