Phyllis Louise
Salamy
Jan 29, 1941 — Oct 10, 2025
Phyllis Louise Droke Salamy, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother (Sittie, to her grandchildren), went to be with her heavenly Father on October 10, 2025.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Richard (Dick) Salamy, her constant companion, sweetheart, and best friend. She is also survived by her son, Richard Jay; daughter-in-love, Marlo; grandchildren, Richard Jacob, Audra Jae, and William Judson; and many close friends, including her special friends and prayer warriors, Carolyn Middleton, Carol Barnhill, and Patti Millican. She was preceded in death by her parents, Euvada and Jesse Droke, her brother Michael Droke, her mother-in-love Jameela Salamy, her father-in-love Said Joseph Salamy, her brothers-in-love George Salamy and Samuel Salamy, her close friend and guardian angel Mary Beth Hardy, her niece Rebecca Salamy, and her granddaughter Anna Jane.
Phyllis's life was marked by faith, service, and an unwavering dedication to those she loved. After many years of volunteer service at Putnam City Schools, she began working in the administration office and eventually became the executive assistant to the Superintendent. She then began a second career as the executive assistant to the President of Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, where she poured her heart and soul into providing hope and homes for children in need.
At the age of 13, Phyllis surrendered her life to Christ, and for the past 50 years, she has been a faithful member of Northwest Baptist Church, where she served on many committees, was a children's worker, and was especially known for her creative abilities in special event programs for the women's ministry and church-wide events.
Phyllis's influence as a friend, mentor, and "guardian angel" will be deeply missed by those she loved. She had many gifts but will be especially missed for her quick and contagious laugh and smile. She was an extraordinary friend whose home and heart were always open to people. Her home was always a haven of warmth, grace, love, and beauty, especially during the holidays. She was a tribute to all things good, and many lives have been enriched by her life. Phyllis' loving and caring spirit reached people of all ages. She had a special sensitivity to the struggles of her friends and family and was always there to help and support them. Her legacy of love, kindness, and unique understanding will be carried on through the lives of those she touched.
Her family is proud of her valiant and courageous fight against cancer. The angels in heaven are rejoicing as they welcome her with open arms.
A celebration of Phyllis's life will be held at 11 a.m. on October 16, 2025, at Northwest Baptist Church, 3030 NW 23rd St, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The service will be livestreamed on the church's Facebook page.
