Phyllis Jean Ridner, 79, died November 20, 2013. She was born June 5, 1934 to Vernon and Rosey Lee (Long) Reisman. Raised in Mustang during the hard years of the Oklahoma Dust Bowl era, Phyllis learned many traits, which stood with her in life including integrity, perseverance, kindness and thrift. As important to her as character was Phyllis's love of her family. She met and married Lloyd Ridner in 1953. She started a family shortly thereafter with David arriving in 1954 and Michael coming in 1956. Much to her delight a third child, Kim, came 14 years later to complete her family. Through the 1970s and 80s Phyllis was the co-owner/operator of Hobby Mart, a beloved store in Bethany, OK. She spent untold hours teaching painting and crafts to all comers. Later she worked in Human Resources at American Fidelity Insurance. She will always be remembered for her kindness, gentle nature and fabulous cooking skills, which were also passed down, to all three of her children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, and her parents. Survivors include her daughter, Kim Williams and husband Noel, of Oklahoma City; sons, Michael Ridner and wife Rhonda, of Huntsville, AL, David Ridner and wife Jeannette, of Oklahoma City; 7 grandchildren, Christian, Noel Jr., Meghan, Calvin, Clayton, Hugo and Gideon; and 2 great-grandchildren, Alex and Aleasha. A memorial service for both Phyllis and Lloyd Ridner will be held at Mercer Adams Funeral Home in Bethany on Saturday, Nov 23 at 10am.
