Phyllis Ann Myers passed away on September 30, 2023 in Oklahoma City. She was born on August 13, 1938 to Walter and Evelyn Buchanan in Chickasha, OK. She grew up in Ada, OK with her three siblings, Buck, Sue and Betty. She loved playing neighborhood baseball, collecting baseball cards and going to watch local baseball games. Her love for all sports carried on throughout her adulthood. She never missed a chance to watch OU, OSU, the Dallas Cowboys, NY Yankees and horse racing.
Phyllis met the one and only love of her life, Charles, when she was 17 years old. They were married on November 12, 1955 in Ada, OK. They settled in Bethany, OK in 1966 and raised their three children, Charles Jr. (Chuck), Steve and Sheri. Myers family summers were spent on the road, traveling the Western part of the country. The trips lasted weeks, and the territory they covered was vast.
Phyllis loved spending time at Lake Texoma with her family. She shared her love of the lake with her children and grandchildren. They spent their time at the lake boating, fishing, and water skiing. She would often stay up late into the night fishing and visiting. Phyllis adored her grandchildren more than life, and they knew they were loved beyond measure. She called them her special angels, and she spoiled them rotten without an ounce of regret. Phyllis had a contagious laugh. Her money was a tool to help others, and her most prized time was with her family.
Phyllis work life mirrored her heart as she made a career out of caring for children. She touched thousands of childrens lives as she owned and operated three Kiddie Kollege Daycare Centers over a 30-year period. At their peak, the centers cared for as many as 350 kids a day. Even in retirement Phyllis, aka the baby whisperer, continued to be a part time daycare worker where she got to spend her mornings rocking infants. In the end with her dementia, Phyllis had one word left in her vocabulary, which was "baby."
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; son, Charles Jr.; brother, Buck Buchanan; and sister, Sue Kelly. She is survived by her son, Steve Myers and wife Monica; daughter, Sheri Brudner and husband Greg Woodard; sister, Betty Buchanan; grandchildren, Melissa Rainbolt (Michael Rainbolt), Melanie Yaffe (Patrick Griffin), Mandi Myers (Bono Stewart), Libby Barnhill (Josh Barnhill), Claire Brudner, Gee Brudner, and Henry Brudner; great-grandchildren, Haven, Thomas, Jack, Harrison, Lillie, Gabe, Milton, Markus, Izzie, Bentley, Hudson, Skye, Phenix, Hattie, and Nellie.
