Phillip Joseph
Cole
Sep 16, 1938 — Jun 5, 2024
Phillip Joseph Cole was called home by his Heavenly Father on June 05, 2024. Phil was born to Thomas and YaterMae Cole on September 16, 1938 in Grant, Oklahoma. Phillip married the love of his life, Mary Ida Cole, in 1959, and they shared their love and life together for 60 years until Mary's death in 2020. Phillip was a United States Marine, and he carried that title proudly for life. After leaving the Marine Corps, he entered the freight industry, and worked at Be-Mac Transport in Oklahoma City for nearly 30 years. Phillip was a Deacon at the Western Oaks Baptist Church for many years, and in 1990 he and Mary joined the Metropolitan Baptist Church where they served in the Mobile Meals ministry.
Phil was a lifelong hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed sharing those activities with his family and friends. There were several years after he retired that he fished over 200 days in each of those years! Phil enjoyed watching western movies, and spending time with his family and friends.
Phil is survived by his daughter, Patty Elder; his son, Phillip Cole, Jr. and his wife Amy. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Melody Downey and her husband Matthew, and Emily Cole; and one great-grandchild, Wolfric Downey; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Phillip will be remembered for his devotion to his Lord that was demonstrated by his continual financial support to many missionaries and evangelists, and his love for sharing the gospel of Christ with others.
Our hearts are heavy at losing our father, grandfather, and friend. We are comforted in the knowledge that he has been reunited with Mom, and that they both rest in the arms of our Lord.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Bethany Cemetery on June 20, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
Instead of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Integris Hospice House, or a local evangelical organization of your choosing in remembrance of Phillip.
