Philip L. Lee, 83, was born in Oklahoma City, OK on February 16, 1937, to Edgar A. and Frances G. Lee. He attended schools in Virginia and Oklahoma, graduating from Classen High School in 1955. He was a gifted athlete, being recognized as All-State in basketball (1st Team) and football (2nd Team). Phil graduated with a business degree from OU in 1959 and attended there on a track scholarship. He was an avid OU football fan all his life, especially when they were winning.
In 1980, after 20 years, Phil retired from the US Army as a Lieutenant Colonel. His military travels took him to Korea, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam and Germany. After completing his service, he attended the University of Central Oklahoma, graduating with an MBA in 1985. Phil served as the HR Director for Bone & Joint Hospital for 20 years, and McBride Clinic for 16 years.
After retiring in June, 2005, he enjoyed working in his garden and yard and traveling the world with his wife of 48 years, Glenda Jones Lee, whom he married October 2, 1971. Phil was a born-again Christian and a longtime member of Putnam City Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Gideons, an organization that spreads the gospel by placing Bibles around the world.
Phil is survived by his four sons, Gregg and wife, Janice (Jacksonville, FL), Michael (Del City, OK), Bryan and wife, Bridget (Monument, CO), and Mathew (Edmond, OK); his sister, Virginia Waddell and husband, Loy (Ft. Worth, TX); five grandchildren, Adalyn, Brayden, Colson, Ally and Chris; and two great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be Sunday, 11am-9pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. Funeral services will be Monday, July 6 at 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel with private entombment in Rose Hill Burial Park. Memorial donations may be made to The Gideons International, PO Box 12406, OKC, OK, 73157.
