Peggy Garten Hayes was born May 16, 1938 in Mooreland, OK to Lawrence Garten and Lala Elem. She peacefully passed in her sleep on February 8, 2025 and is now with our Lord and Savior, Jesus. She married David Hayes on July 31, 1997.
Peggy graduated from Enid High School and Enid Beauty College in 1956 and began her career as a beautician/barber. She owned Peggy's Style Shop at the Sheraton Century Center in downtown Oklahoma City and then completed her career at Sizzer Works Barber Shop.
Peggy lived every day to the fullest. She loved being with family and friends and always had a kind and caring heart. She enjoyed attending Life Church with her daughter, and playing golf with her son was a highlight in her life. She was a star basketball player in High School and continued to be an avid sports fan. She especially enjoyed watching and going to Thunder games.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, David Hayes; father, Lawrence Garten; mother, Lala Elem; stepfather, Joe Elem; brother, Larry Garten; and sister, Joyce Garten.
Survivors include her son, Steve Baker and wife RoxAnn of Mustang, OK; daughter, Kim Wise and husband Tim of Broken Arrow, OK; 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Peggy was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
