Paul was born in Wewoka to George and Mamie Campbell, the youngest of nine. He and seven of his siblings served in World War II. Paul joined the Navy at 17 and was an aerial gunner and radioman in the Philippines. His brothers served in the Coast Guard and Marines, serving in New Zealand, Guadalcanal, Sicily, Italy, France, and the South Pacific. His sister Pauline served in the Womens Army Corps.
He married Peggy Birdwell on November 24, 1948, and they had three children, George, Steve and Kelley. Paul retired from Southwest Electric Co. after over 40 years of service.
Paul and Peggy were members of Exchange Avenue Baptist Church for over sixty years, serving faithfully. They loved their church family, and were loved in return.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy, sister Ella, and brother-in-law Dick. He is also survived by his son George and daughter-in-law Denise, son Steve and daughter-in-law Elyce, daughter Kelley and son-in-law Bob. He loved his grandchildren: Garrett and his wife Kristi, Austin and his wife Kristen, Marshall Paul, his first namesake, Rachel and her husband J.D., Adam and his wife, Melia, April and her husband Derek, and Lane Campbell, his second namesake. He was blessed with great-grandchildren, also: Cruz, Jett, Jax due in April, Dylan, Scarlet, Harper, Lincoln and Foster.
Paul was the epitome of The Greatest Generation; a hardworking, ethical, moral family man, who was greatly respected and admired by his friends and family. He will be missed.
