Having dedicated her life to walking in His steps, Patty Ann McDonald met her Savior on February 10, 2012. Her commitment to living for His glory resulted in a life that blessed her family, friends and community. Seventy-nine years old, she has joined her husband, Wayne, in Heavens glory.
Born to Wallis and Cleo Hays, Patty was one of six children raised in Tulsa. After losing her parents as a teenager, she lived with her sister, Mary Frances, and chose to attend the Westside Church of the Nazarene. It was there that Patty met the love of her life, Loral Wayne McDonald.
Patty and Wayne were married on October 31, 1952 and shared forty-nine incredible years, serving in their local churches, joining Work & Witness trips around the world, and working with Ray Braaten and his extended family at New Life Ranch (Colcord, OK). This legacy of love and service is an unparalleled blessing to their two children, David Wayne McDonald (Debbie) and Loral Ann McDonald Henck (Rex) and their families.
The work ethic that Patty learned in her parents dry goods store set the example for her family. Always eager to do the research for any project, she gave the gifts of her time and energy to family and friends in need. Just call Grandma was the family motto when we didnt have the answer! Sure, honey, what do you need was always her first response, and soon she was on a mission in Waynes Toyota truck to find the answer to any question. She was tireless and her generosity knew no bounds as she served her Master, the church, family, friends, the ROC and Meals on Wheels.
Patty was our dear Grandma Mac and nurtured the lives of her grandchildren Pierson McDonald, Lantz McDonald, Brittany Bolerjack (Aaron), Mallory Young (Adam), Chelsey Henck (fianc Sam) and Nikolce Gjoreski (adopted). She so lovingly embraced Debbies children, Clark Townsend, Neil Townsend (Sheila) and Bryan Townsend. It was her joy to pray for her two great-grandchildren, Kaden and Colby Young.
Survivors also include sister Susie Baldwin; niece Jan Carroll; nephews Joel Hurley (Jane), Rob Coulson (Lou), Mikel Coulson (Barb), Jimmy Carl Harlan (Judy) and Larry Don Harlan (Kimberly); a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews, as well as an extended family.
Praise be to our Lord and Savior for a life so beautifully lived for His glory. In lieu of flowers, please give generously to the McDonald Disability Scholarship Fund at Southern Nazarene University. (www.snu.edu)
