Obituary

With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Patricia "Patty" Darlene Sanders, a devoted wife, loving sister, cherished friend, and vibrant soul who left this world on March 17, 2026, after a long illness.

Born on April 10, 1962, in Odessa, Texas, to Gerald Ray Sanders and Georgia Darlene (Nelson) Sanders, Patty lived in Odessa until the family moved to Oklahoma City in 1971. She was predeceased by her father, Gerald "Sonny" Sanders; her mother, Georgia Bishop; her stepdad, Don Bishop; mother and father-in-law, Bill and Delores Patty; her brothers, Danny Sanders and Donny Sanders; her special nephew, Trevor "Seth" Parsons; her great-nephew, Jaden Michael Beadnell; and maternal and paternal grandparents as well as numerous aunts and uncles.

Patty's legacy lives on through her devoted husband of 22 years, Greg Patty, who cherished her every day since their marriage in 2004. Their love story began a decade earlier, a testament to their deep connection and shared passions. She is also survived by her brothers, Mike Sanders of Oklahoma City, Abner Sanders of Woodward, OK, Larry Sanders from Oklahoma, and Shane Sanders and his wife, Tammy, of Woodward, OK; her sister, Alison Sanders Cusenbary of Yukon, OK; and brother-in-law, Roger Patty. Patty also leaves behind numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins, and a wide circle of friends who were touched by her generous heart.

Patty was a proud graduate of John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City, class of 1980, as well as the American Broadcasting School. Her career began at the tender age of 14, where she showcased her resilient spirit by working as a car hop at Del Rancho, a job she acquired by cleverly bending the truth about her age. She continued her journey at TG&Y from the age of 16 and dedicated her adult life to retail, thriving as a scanning coordinator until she had to retire due to her health issues.

Patty's passions were as diverse as they were profound. A devoted fan of The Beatles, particularly John Lennon, she filled her life with music, savoring the thrill of concerts, the excitement of amusement parks, and the camaraderie of sports events—especially football, hockey, and baseball games, as well as NASCAR races. Her love for the water and the great outdoors was equally matched by her unwavering support for the OSU Cowboys, Texas Longhorns and the Denver Broncos. Patty's conversations were lively and filled with humor, and she had an uncanny ability to make anyone laugh, especially when discussing her beloved music or sports.

In honoring Patty's vibrant spirit, her family invites you to join them for a celebration of her life on March 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Mercer Adams Funeral Service Chapel, located at 3925 N. Asbury Avenue, Bethany, OK, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8701 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK. The family kindly requests that attendees wear jeans and their favorite music-related shirt, a nod to Patty's enduring love for music.

As we gather to remember Patty, let us celebrate a life well-lived, filled with laughter, love, and an unwavering spirit that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her melody will forever echo in our hearts, a beautiful reminder that love, like music, transcends time and space.
