Obituary

Patricia Louise Beaty died Thursday, December 3, at St. Thomas Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 85. An adopted daughter of Oklahoma, Pat lived for 54 years in Oklahoma City. She lived most of those years in the same small, red-frame home on 13th Street near the state fairgrounds. As a registered nurse, she ministered to the sick, injured and dying at Mercy hospital and Windemere nursing home. Pat was a long-time member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, a fellowship she loved, and a former member of Portland Avenue Baptist Church. Born in Baker, Oregon, in 1924, she moved to Oklahoma in 1953. She was an ardent fan of OU football and had friends and family in every corner of the state. Pat was the daughter of Owen W. and Inez Ludwick and she was the sister of Jean Marie Lovenborg, all of Oregon. They preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James Durwood Beaty who died in 2001. He was born in Tuttle, Oklahoma, in 1923. Pat received her nurses training in Portland, Oregon, during World War II. She devoted her life to nursing and her family. She is survived by her children, Kevin L. Parrish, 61, of Stockton, California, and Anita L. Nyman, 58, of Chapmansboro, Tennessee, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She had moved to Tennessee in 2007 to live with her daughter, but Oklahoma was never far from her heart. A celebration of life for Patricia Beaty will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 2001 N. Meridian Ave. in Oklahoma City. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery outside Minco, Okla. Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 N. Asbury Ave., Bethany, Okla., is handling services. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 7, at Mercer-Adams. Information: (405) 495-4363. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Calvin Presbyterian Church. Pat loved all things Oklahoman. Appropriately, her dog and constant companion was a small black Daschund named Boomer Sooner.
