Obituary

Guthery, Pamela "Pam" Jane (Arterbery) went home to be with the Lord December 7, 2017 unexpectedly. She was born May 2, 1946, in Enid, Oklahoma to Melvin and Margaret (Grimes) Arterbery. She graduated from Garber High School in 1964. Pam married Odes Joseph "Bud" Guthery, Jr., June 12, 1965 in Garber, Oklahoma. To this union were born two children, Tamara Clarice and Erica Gwyn. Pam and Bud lived life and did everything "together" until his passing January 20, 2004. She was born into the Christian Church and was baptized in 1956. In 1971, Pam and Bud started their own retail and service business in Bethany, Oklahoma, "Oklahoma Carpet Service" and owned and operated that company for 32 years. Pam was active in a lot, starting in her youth participating and coordinating and "organizing" anything and everything she felt led to do. She was a member of the Nareme Order of the Eastern Star, had been a Rainbow Girl and eventually was Grand Worthy Advisor. Pam was a current member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. Pam was a youth sponsor and VBS Craft Coordinator. She served as the Caravan Director for many years and, along with Bud, was very vital in many work and witness teams. Together, they led an "Accounting 4" group in the University Department. Pam was well known for her "Chef" skills for several years of "Porkfest" and spaghetti and other meal fundraisers for youth programs. Pam also was instrumental in organizing awareness groups and working with schools to combat drug abuse. Pam and Bud were members of the Oklahoma City Running Club. Pam coordinated many running and cycling events throughout the years. Pam loved to travel and plan trips for her family. Pam and Bud had enjoyed several years together living it up on their property at Grand Lake in their cabins and on their boat until his passing. Pam and Bud were married 38 years. For the past 13 years Pam longed to be with Bud; so, to pass the time she enjoyed visiting and having daily calls with her granddaughter Megan and was involved with a Bible Study group of girlfriends that she loved so much. She also enjoyed planning out road trips with her best friend, Linda. They would just take off and explore all that they could("Thelma and Louise" without too much trouble). She just liked to go, but longed to be with Bud. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles. Pam is survived by her two daughters, Tamara Black and husband Dan of Yukon, Oklahoma, Erica Neuenschwander of Florida; her granddaughter, Megan Taylor Johnson of Stillwater, Oklahoma; grandson, Andrew Joseph Neuenschwander of Florida; sister, Evelyn "Trustene"; five nieces, one nephew, and other aunts and cousins. Pam will be missed by all who knew and loved her. They are "together forever" finally!!! To God be all glory, honor and praise for all He has done.
