Phil Stephen (Steve) Lewis, 74, died December 23, 2008 after a lengthy illness. He farmed in Ponca City, Oklahoma and helped his parents in Lewis Produce, completing all his education in the Ponca City Schools. A veteran of the US Army, he served in the Korean War from 1954-56, Amphibious ducks., Virginia Beach, VA. He returned to farming in Ponca City and graduated from Oklahoma A&M, Okmulgee, in Diesel Mechanics. He worked in heavy equipment until taking a position as One-Way Manager for Ryder Truck Co. He then became District Manager of Compacts Only for Oklahoma. He ran a development and construction company at Lake of the Arbuckles, Sulphur, OK with a Oklahoma Sales Associate License. He worked for a time with Comack, a Savings and Loan clearing company during the takeover by the Federal government. He then went to work for Tinker Air Force Base and retired from there in 1999. During his retirement he was always helping the family in any repairs of building that was required. He loved working on cars and working in his yard and continued even during his retirement years. He worked hard providing for his own and extended family and was fond of his dogs.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, infant sister, biological brothers, sister, and infant granddaughter. Steve is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy. He also leaves 2 daughters, Catherine Ann Graham Douglas and her husband Asa, and Dawna Sue (Keller) Lewis of Oklahoma City. Three grandchildren, Daniel Earl and wife Katie Graham of Mustang, Kenneth Lee and wife Tiffany Keller, Deidre Ann Graham Sullen and husband Chris. Also, 4 great grandchildren, London, Geneva and Mary Graham, and Joslyn Keller of Oklahoma City, plus many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services will be held, Saturday, December 27, 11:00am at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
