Obituary

Ottis Kendall Harrison, an American hero, was born on Memorial Day, May 30, 1913 in Hillsboro, TX to the home of Hardy and Bessie Harrison. Ottis family moved to Bristow, OK when Ottis was a young man and he graduated from high school in Bristow. Ottis moved to Pauls Valley where he met and married Mable Evelyn Stapp on February 4, 1940. In 1943, Ottis was called to serve his country in the 13th Air Force, mostly in New Guinea, Southern Philippines. Ottis celebrated his 98th birthday on Memorial Day, two days before his death. Following the war, Mable and Ottis moved to Oklahoma City where Ottis was employed by Sunshine Cookie Company. Ottis and Mable enjoyed 71 years of marriage. They were members of the Olivet Baptist Church. Ottis was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Mable; his sister, Betty Jo Ramirez; and many nieces and nephews. Family visitation will be held on Thursday, June 2, 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Graveside services will be at 10:30am, Fri., June 3 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Pauls Valley, OK.
